Legal Info for Senior Albertans

Learn more about elder abuse – how to identify, prevent, and deal with it.

An older adult I know is being abused (or I think they are being abused)

If you are being abused and in danger, call 911 immediately.

There are many reasons why a person may not report they are being abused. These reasons can include shame, fear of making the situation worse, fear of losing contact with a person, belief they cannot prove abuse is happening, and more.

Depending on the individual, you may be able to help by having a conversation. There are lots of resources available to help you start this conversation.
